The waters of the Bristol Channel do not look very inviting for much of the time - the tide runs fiercely and the mud from the River Severn colours the water brown. But there are times when the water is crystal clear and Lundy hangs mysteriously on the distant horizon. Those good days were the inspiration for a group of intrepid North Devonians to begin to explore beneath the surface in search of shipwrecks, adventure and food! The channel is still murky and difficult but thanks to their pioneering spirit it now feels like home to the current members of Ilfracombe & North Devon SAC.
